OSU's New Email System

I am interested to know people take on the new OSU student email system. What do you like about it? What do you dislike? How does it compare to your non-osu web-client (like gmail)?Whats your thoughts on loosing @osu.edu and being forced to @buckeyemail.osu.edu? Was windows live the best choice?

  1. This change was defiantly a setup from the old OSU webmailI. find it somewhat of a fail that when you are presented with the new email system there is no OSU branding on the login page and when you are brave enough to put your password in the main email layout has an OSU logo the size of a pencil eraser, barely noticeable. The three vertical columns to display what section your in, email message, and the selected email is a little space consuming. I also started getting spam within an hour of creating my new account, I didn't even tell anyone or post the email address on the internet. The great expanse of storage space is a nice feature, no more attachments causing your mailbox to be full and bounce emails. The sky drive is also a nice touch, but you have to go through an additional sign up process to get it though OSU lists it as a standard feature that you would expect to be activated automatically. I do like the exchange server set up, works with the iphone and will sync calendars and contacts automatically.

  2. I don't check much mail other than school email, and I like that buckeyemail has more space to hold files. I don't like having to type (also memorizing) another email address (it's longer! and I'm a little lazy when it comes to typing). Why, when they switched everyone over, didn't they switch names over, too (so I don't have to type in buckeyemail)? It's also a bit of a hassle having to learn where everything is all over again. Once I get used to it, though, I'm bound to like it just as well as osumail.
